What can HRS Services offer?
HRS are licensed to carry out BREEAM and Code assessments and can assess your building at design and/or post construction stage. We provide consultancy throughout the design and construction stages to help you to achieve your desired rating.
We can also provide services to help you achieve a number of the credits within the BREEAM and Code assessments.
Energy—SAP, EPC, DEC & SBEM
Energy is the most highly weighted section in both types of assessment with Ene 1- Reduction of CO2 emissions accounting for the most credits. HRS are able to carry out design and as built SAP and SBEM calculations on domestic and non domestic dwellings. We can also produce Energy Performance Certificates to show compliance with the credit. The better your EPC rating the more credits you will achieve for BREEAM credit Ene 1.
The Energy Performance Certificate is an asset rating based on theoretical performance of the building design subject to standardised usage, occupancy and environmental conditions.
Asset rating consideration

Consideration of all factors that contribute to the buildings performance is critical to ensure that desired parameters are complied with. Just because the building envelope meets the thermal requirements of Part L, does not necessarily mean that the carbon dioxide emissions target will be reached. If only the minimum acceptable standards are specified for the envelope and services then the project will not comply with the energy calculation target for Building Regulations compliance. It is therefore critical that the whole design team is aware of the requirements and their role in helping the building to comply.
Acoustics Consultancy & Testing
HRS can provide consultancy to help you to achieve all aspects of Hea 13
Acoustic performance within BREEAM and Hea 2 Sound Insulation in the
Code. Our ‘suitably qualified acousticians’ can provide consultancy to
ensure that your school achieves the required performance standards required by
Building Bulletin 93, sound insulation testing in dwellings and are able
to assist you achieve compliant ambient noise levels in all other buildings. We carry
out pre completion acoustic testing to ensure that all spaces achieve the
performance standards required.
Our acousticians can carry out noise impact assessments in compliance with BS 4142:1997 to achieve compliance with Pol 8- Noise attenuation.
Air Tightness Consultancy & Testing
We can provide consultancy at design stage in the form of desk top reviews
of design drawings to comment on and make recommendations regarding your air
seal line and the air tightness of the building. Throughout construction
we offer site advice visits to check and comment on the integrity of your air seal
line.
When it comes to testing we can provide temporary sealing teams in preparation for the test. If your building does fail our tester will carry out an audit of your building with smoke pencils to locate leakage paths and you will receive a feedback report with photographs of areas of your building where remedials may be required.
