Room Integrity Testing

HRS have extensive experience in offering air tightness consultancy, final air testing and air sealing services on rooms with fire suppression systems. Specifications are worked to include NFPA 2001, ISO 14520 and BS EN 15004. HRS have worked on all types and sizes of protected rooms, including server rooms, plant rooms, boiler rooms in offices, hospitals, data centres, and factories with either gas suppressant or halo carbon gas systems.

HRS use fully calibrated equipment – RETROTEC fans in conjunction with accredited software and technicians to provide a fully certificated service to clients.

On receiving enquiries HRS confirm in detail the specifications to be worked to and the exact scope of the air testing works, including the format of the final report and the certification required. HRS will define how the test results are to be expressed in terms of hold time / leakage rate m3/hour/m2 at 10 pascals results in terms of lower or higher leakage figures. A peak pressure analysis is provided which includes tests of the pressure relief vents.

Room integrity test results are provided immediately after tests and final reports submitted within 48 hours, after the formal checking of air test data.

How is Room Integrity Testing carried out and how long does it take?

Room Integrity Testing is in principle similar to a building air test, where a calibrated air test fan with manometers is set up on a door into the room or area to be tested. No temporary sealing can be applied to any elements of the test area. Re-circulation systems can be left in operation and Gas suppression systems need to be temporarily disabled during the test. The air test with peak pressure analysis generally takes 4 hours on site.

What if the Room Integrity Testing fails?

HRS experienced technicians use smoke pencils to identify air leakage paths and carry out re tests after remedial works are completed.

Who can carry out remedial works?

HRS can offer experienced air sealing/fire stopping teams to carry out air sealing / fire stopping (to FIRAS standards) to rectify air leakage paths until Room Integrity Testing specifications are met.
