Service provided: Acoustic design of building to meet the standards of BB93 and Local Authority requirements

This is a new build secondary school for 350 students based around the Wates ‘Hybrid Adapt’ standardised school system.

As a free school, the building was specifically designed to provide flexible teaching spaces for project based and ‘expeditionary’ learning; focused around a central ‘hub’ area featuring a library, performance/drama space and dining area.

The flexible learning requirement and incorporation of broadcast studios for a commercial radio station provided challenges, requiring HRS to work closely with the design team to ensure that the requirements of Building Bulletin 93 were met, and a suitable acoustic environment for teaching and learning was provided.
